Unembedded Japanese CID fixture
unembedded-japanese.pdf is authored locally by ../generate_fonts.py, using
ReportLab's predefined Japanese CID fonts. The two pages select
UniJIS-UCS2-H and UniJIS-UCS2-V for HeiseiMin-W3 and HeiseiKakuGo-W5.
No font program is embedded. The second page uses the PDF vertical writing
mode, including native punctuation positioning, rather than individually
positioning horizontal glyphs. The text is synthetic and contains no third-party
document content. Font names identify requests; installed substitutes can differ.
The manifest records the input hash, authored text and page dimensions. Generation requires ReportLab and pypdf. The generator checks both encoding names and absence of FontFile/FontFile2/FontFile3 in the CID font descriptors. Successful raster output alone does not establish character accuracy or full CMap coverage; compare with Poppler and inspect both pages.
